CIAM
Customer Identity and Access Management
CIAM manages registration, authentication, account recovery, and account security for customers using digital channels.
- When it applies
- It applies when an organization needs to recognize authenticated users across experiences without moving credentials into marketing platforms.
- What it is confused with
- It is not CDP identity resolution. CIAM proves access to an account; the CDP relates signals and profiles for other uses.
- Architecture consequence
- Integration should define stable identifiers, lifecycle events, and clear boundaries between authentication, consent, and activation.
