Identity namespace
Semantic context for an identifier
A namespace declares what an identifier means, such as a CRM ID, email address, or device. The value only has identity meaning within that context.
- When it applies
- It is defined when modeling identity fields and deciding which evidence can link profile fragments from different sources.
- What it is confused with
- A namespace does not guarantee uniqueness, quality, or authority. Two sources can use the same identifier type with very different lifecycles and controls.
- Architecture consequence
- Choosing namespace and priority changes the graph, fragmentation, and risk of incorrect joins. It must be part of every event family contract.
