Adobe Journey Optimizer
Journey Optimizer is the Adobe application on AEP that orchestrates journeys and sends messages over email, push, SMS, and custom channels. It reads from the unified profile and can write back to it.
- When it applies
- It fits when messaging depends on events and customer state that already live in AEP, and when several teams need to reuse the same audiences without rebuilding them.
- What it is confused with
- It is not a batch campaign manager under a new name. A journey reacts to events and holds per-person state. And not everything it computes reaches the data lake: what it writes to the profile does not land there on its own.
- Architecture consequence
- If state computed inside a journey must exist in SQL for reporting or another use case, it has to be rebuilt separately. That reconciliation is an architecture decision, not a configuration detail.
