Audience
Set of profiles under a shared definition
An audience is a set of profiles that share attributes or behaviour. In AEP it can come from a segment definition, an external upload or Federated Audience Composition.
- When it applies
- It is the unit that destinations, journeys and personalisation consume. It fits when several channels have to act on the same population under the same rule.
- What it is confused with
- The definition and the audience are not the same thing. The rule is evaluated in batch, in streaming or on the edge, and each method sees profile changes with a different delay.
- Architecture consequence
- The count depends on the merge policy and the evaluation method. Before comparing figures across teams, check which policy and which evaluation each audience uses.
