Maileon-to-AJO migration in European banking
Client: a consumer finance institution operating across several European markets
- Adobe Experience Platform
- Real-Time CDP
- Adobe Journey Optimizer
- OneTrust
- Data Prep
- Data Landing Zone
The problem
The email marketing platform was being retired. Audiences depended on warehouse data, while permissions lived in OneTrust. Its replacement had to preserve segmentation logic and consent exclusions while correctly distinguishing customers from prospects.
What I did
- I worked as a solution architect on the new foundation across Adobe Experience Platform, Real-Time CDP, and Adobe Journey Optimizer.
- I defined XDM schemas, datasets, namespaces, identities, and merge policies to unify customer, prospect, and consent data.
- I designed batch ingestion from the data warehouse and the OneTrust integration, including Data Prep mappings and suppression rules.
- I addressed prospect-to-customer continuity through a derived prospect identifier linked to the subsequent customer profile.
- I translated the use cases into audiences and journeys split by market and language, with exit conditions and validation before rollout.
Result
- The initial assessment, data model, technical design, AEP testing in pre-production, and first journeys were documented.
- The replacement design specified RT-CDP audiences, AJO journeys, and consent exclusions sourced from OneTrust.
