Measurement audit and governance for a university

Client: a major public university with numerous domains, schools, and digital properties

  • Universal Analytics
  • Classic Analytics
  • Google Tag Manager

The problem

Measurement was distributed across numerous websites, subdomains, and owners. Before implementing changes, the organization needed to know where Analytics and GTM were present, which identifiers were in use, and where access or configuration was missing.

What I did

  • I performed a technical audit of URLs and domains to identify Universal Analytics, Classic Analytics, and Google Tag Manager implementations.
  • I prepared an inventory of accounts, properties, views, containers, and access to connect technical coverage with administration.
  • I identified missing, duplicated, or fragmented configurations that had to be addressed before measurement could be standardized.
  • I supported the client during implementation of the improvements and coordination across the different owners.

Result

  • The university gained a consolidated view of its measurement setup and the properties that required intervention.
  • The inventory provided a basis for prioritizing implementation and coordinating changes with the owners of each environment.
